By the numbers: Norvell's contract, buyout and FSU's win totals since 2024
What Florida State would owe Mike Norvell, and the win totals driving the conversation, ahead of the Miami game.

Mike Norvell's future has been a talking point all week, and Tomahawk Nation published a breakdown of his salary and buyout on Thursday. Here are the published numbers. Florida State has not announced any change.
The contract
Norvell is scheduled to earn $10.3 million in 2026, not counting bonuses, under a contract that runs through Dec. 31, 2031, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. His buyout is 85% of his remaining base and supplemental pay, and a duty-to-mitigate clause would reduce what FSU owes if he takes another job.
On3 puts the buyout at about $51 million if he is dismissed during the 2026 season, falling to $45.6 million after the season, per On3.
The results
Since the start of the 2024 season, FSU has four ACC wins, the fewest in the league, Warchant's Corey Clark noted. Among Power 4 teams, only Purdue (3) and Oklahoma State (5) have fewer FBS wins than FSU's seven over that span, Clark added. Norvell is 26-8 against FBS teams with Jordan Travis as his starting quarterback and 9-28 without him, per Clark.
