Mike Norvell met reporters Wednesday for the last time before Florida State heads to No. 3 Miami. He said the Hurricanes "lead the country in both offensive and defensive scoring," [per Tomahawk Nation](https://www.tomahawknation.com/florida-state-football/138734/mike-norvell-on-the-miami-rivalry-its-one-of-the-great-games-in-all-of-college-football?ref=nolestandard.ghost.io).

### The Mensah problem

Norvell said Miami quarterback Darian Mensah is "playing at an elite level" and gets the ball out so quickly that pressure is hard to generate, [the Tallahassee Democrat reported](https://www.theledger.com/story/sports/college/fsu/football/2026/10/14/florida-state-seminoles-football-mike-norvell-miami-darian-mensah/92211574007/?ref=nolestandard.ghost.io). Mensah has thrown for 1,438 yards and 15 touchdowns without a turnover and is completing 84.2% of his passes. Miami averages 49.8 points per game, the most in the country, [per the Democrat](https://www.theledger.com/story/sports/college/fsu/football/2026/10/14/florida-state-seminoles-football-mike-norvell-miami-darian-mensah/92211574007/?ref=nolestandard.ghost.io).

FSU ranks 122nd nationally in total defense at 410.2 yards allowed per game, [the Democrat noted](https://www.theledger.com/story/sports/college/fsu/football/2026/10/14/florida-state-seminoles-football-mike-norvell-miami-darian-mensah/92211574007/?ref=nolestandard.ghost.io).

### On Kennon

Asked about Chuck Kennon's dismissal, Norvell said, "He is no longer part of the program," adding that the cornerback did not meet the program's standard, [Warchant reported](https://x.com/Warchant/status/2110393135587307601?ref=nolestandard.ghost.io). ### What he wants to see

"I want to see the confidence in the response," Norvell said, [per the Democrat](https://www.theledger.com/story/sports/college/fsu/football/2026/10/14/florida-state-seminoles-football-mike-norvell-miami-darian-mensah/92211574007/?ref=nolestandard.ghost.io). On his offense: "We still have yet to see the 60-minute execution," [he said](https://www.tomahawknation.com/florida-state-football/138734/mike-norvell-on-the-miami-rivalry-its-one-of-the-great-games-in-all-of-college-football?ref=nolestandard.ghost.io).
