Duce Robinson caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Ashton Daniels on FSU's first overtime possession, and Gabe Panikowski's extra point gave the Seminoles a 35-28 lead over No. 3 Miami, per ESPN. Miami gets its possession next, from the FSU 25, needing a touchdown to extend the game.

As of 10:39 PM ET Saturday: FSU 35, Miami 28, OT. Miami's overtime possession is next; we will post the result.

FSU's overtime possession

FSU got the ball first in overtime, starting at the Miami 25. Quintrevion Wisner ran 5 yards to the 20, and Daniels threw incomplete deep left to L. Thomas. On third-and-5, Daniels went deep left again, and Robinson caught it in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown. Panikowski's kick was good, per ESPN's play-by-play. It was Robinson's second touchdown in the final minutes; his 75-yard catch tied the game at 28 with 2:39 left in regulation (our story).

How regulation ended

With the game tied, Miami took over at its own 25 with 2:39 left. Darian Mensah hit M. Toney for 24 yards, and J. Mallory ran for 4 and 1 yards to reach the FSU 46, per ESPN. On third-and-5 with 54 seconds left, Ashlynd Barker broke up Mensah's pass intended for D. Upshaw.

Miami punted on fourth down. D. Joyce's 45-yard punt pinned FSU at its 1 with 31 seconds left. Ashton Daniels ran for 5 yards to the 6, and Miami called timeout. Daniels then took a knee for a 2-yard loss, and time ran out in regulation, per ESPN's play-by-play. Before the punt, Dustin Lewis of NoleGameday/On SI had posted: "Now #FSU needs to run the clock out and get to OT."

The fourth-quarter swings

  • Chris Jones' stop: FSU led 21-14 when Jones stopped M. Fletcher Jr. for no gain on fourth-and-1 at the FSU 18 with 14:16 left (our story on Jones' earlier injury scare).
  • Miami ties it: After an FSU punt, Miami went 72 yards in four plays, including a 35-yard catch and a 30-yard run by Toney. Javian Mallory scored on a 3-yard run with 9:33 left to tie it 21-21 (our story).
  • Wisner's fumble: On FSU's next drive, Quintrevion Wisner broke a 24-yard run, but E. O'Connor forced a fumble and X. Lucas recovered for Miami, per ESPN.
  • Miami goes ahead: Miami turned the fumble into a 10-play, 61-yard drive that took 6:08. Mensah hit Elija Lofton for a 3-yard touchdown with 2:49 left, making it Miami 28-21 (our story).
  • Daniels to Robinson: On the next snap after the touchback, Daniels hit Duce Robinson deep down the left side for a 75-yard touchdown. Gabe Panikowski's extra point tied it 28-28 with 2:39 left (our story).
  • Barker's breakup: Barker's third-down pass breakup at the FSU 46 forced the Miami punt that ended up sending the game to overtime.

How overtime works

Under NCAA overtime rules, each team gets one possession starting from the opponent's 25-yard line, with no game clock. Starting in the second overtime, teams must go for two after a touchdown. From the third overtime on, each possession is a single two-point attempt. FSU had the ball first in the first overtime, per ESPN.

FSU led 21-14 after three quarters (our story) after taking the lead on Daniels' screen pass to Wisner (our story). Follow along on our live blog.

Next up: Miami's first-overtime possession, tonight on ESPN.
